The client
The government regulator for gas and electricity markets in Great Britain.
The work
We devised, delivered and reported on a live scenario test of the client’s business continuity and crisis management plans.
How we helped
Having defined and implemented a new Business Continuity Management (BCM) framework the client wanted to perform a test of the BCM procedures, escalation and communication mechanisms and people placed in key crisis management roles in order to prove the framework
through a realistic scenario. We defined a detailed scenario and facilitated the scenario workshop in real time. All actions, interactions, decisions and learnings were observed by our team and fed back in a detailed report after the test.
Value added
The learnings gained by a realistic test were significant and enabled key updates to be made to plans and working practices. Operating under stress also served to highlight potential resource or skills pinch points but also the need to actually refer to the plan during the management of incidents as opposed to management reacting and making assumptions around
the actions to take. The feedback we received from the executive team was exemplary and confirmed that after the event they had significantly greater confidence in their plan and their ability to manage an incident.
